# Genuka WA

> Genuka WA is a REST API for the official WhatsApp Business Platform (Meta's Cloud API). Genuka is a Meta Tech Provider: you connect your own WhatsApp Business number through Meta's Embedded Signup, then send notifications, one-time codes and campaigns over HTTP and receive replies and delivery statuses on signed webhooks, without applying to Meta as a provider yourself. Meta's message rates are billed by Meta with no markup from Genuka; Genuka charges a subscription per WhatsApp number.

Genuka is a Meta Tech Provider, not a Business Solution Provider (BSP): each client keeps its own WhatsApp Business Account, Meta bills the message rates to that account directly, and Genuka adds 0% markup on them. Plans, prices and limits: https://wa.genuka.com/pricing.md. The REST API (`/api/v1`, bearer API key) is described in OpenAPI 3.1 at https://wa.genuka.com/openapi.json. `@genuka/whatsapp-mcp` is an MCP server that lets AI agents (Claude, Cursor, VS Code…) send WhatsApp messages, templates and campaigns through that API; setup: https://wa.genuka.com/en/docs/guides/ai-agents.

Before writing an integration:

- Base URL `https://wa.genuka.com/api/v1`. Every request carries `Authorization: Bearer <API key>`, a server-side key created in the dashboard.
- Every send names the WhatsApp number it leaves from: list them with `GET /api/v1/connections`, then `POST /api/v1/messages` with `connectionId`, `to` and one content field (`text`, `template`, `image`…).
- Free-form messages are only delivered within 24 hours of the recipient's last message to you; outside that window, send an approved template (otherwise Meta error 131047: https://wa.genuka.com/en/docs/errors/131047.mdx).
- Replies and delivery statuses arrive on signed webhooks: verify the signature before trusting a payload.
